Overview & Highlights

Nestled in the quiet charm of Tai Hang, Bing Kee Cha Dong is a nostalgic gem that offers a genuine taste of Hong Kong's beloved cha chaan teng (茶餐廳) culture. Established in the 1950s, this unassuming café is more than just a spot to grab a bite; it's a treasured part of local heritage, attracting both long-time patrons and adventurous newcomers.

As you step into Bing Kee, the hustle and bustle of the city fades away, replaced by the comforting aroma of savory noodles and rich milk tea. This place is a haven for anyone craving hearty, no-frills meals that warm the soul. The restaurant’s signature dishes are a must-try. Indulge in the pork chop noodles—a customer favorite known for its tender, flavorful meat paired with perfectly cooked noodles. Another highlight is the refreshing iced lemon tea that, while not overly sweet, offers a unique twist to cleanse your palate.

Food is served with a delightful simplicity; think warm, fluffy butter toast and sweet peanut condensed sandwich, both of which complement the rich snack offerings at this little eatery. While some reviewers mention that items like the pork chop sandwich could use a bit of improvement, the majority agree that the true stars of the menu are the comforting bowls of noodles, whether you opt for salted beef or the signature pork chop.

The atmosphere at Bing Kee is a blend of charm and authenticity. As you enjoy your meal outside in the alleyway, you can soak in the vibrant street life of Hong Kong. Although the space may be rustic, and the hygiene may raise eyebrows, the genuine experience of eating here is irreplaceable. It’s where you can witness the hustle and bustle of blue-collar life and connect with the heart and soul of the city.

Be prepared for a bit of a wait, especially during weekends, as locals flock to this spot for breakfast and lunch. Lines can be lengthened, but they move quickly, and the food is well worth your patience. For those who appreciate the unique vibes of an authentic cha chaan teng and want to dive into a truly local experience, Bing Kee Cha Dong is not to be missed. Come for the noodles, stay for the atmosphere, and leave with a heartwarming experience that captures the essence of Hong Kong.

Pro: - good noodles - good milk tea. Not sweet - good atmosphere - good peanut condensed sandwich. Must eat Con: - pork chop sandwich needs improvement You pay after. Queue 20 - 30min It's fast

Bing Kee is a fast food street stall tucked away in a quiet back alley in Hong Kong. It is one of the last remaining "cha dong" (茶檔) which has been in business since the 1950s. I've been visiting Bing Kee frequently since high school. The hygiene is questionable and the dining environment is not ideal, but this is where you can fully experience down-to-earth food and blue-collar life in Hong Kong. *Spam, Egg and Spiced Beef Instant Noodle 餐丁蛋麵 My go-to order is the sunny side up egg and spiced beef cubes (五香肉丁) combo. The chili oil of the beef cubes gives a spicy kick and pairs well with the sesame oil soup. They also offer a variety of classic HK cafe food toppings. The popular options include marinated pork chop, soy sauce wing, corned beef and red sausage. *Butter Toast with Evaporated Milk 奶油麥多 My favorite breakfast item. The toast is thickly cut and fluffy. They toast both sides of the bread, generously spread some butter, then drizzle evaporated milk over it. Very crispy and sweet snack to kick start your morning. *HK Style Milk Tea 港式奶茶 Their hk style milk tea used to be top notch. Unfortunately the quality was disappointing this time. The milk-to-tea flavors were unbalanced and tea base was overwhelmingly bitter. Hope it was just an off day.

Simple but heartwarming food. Prices are insane ($26 for a bowl of noodles with two toppings) and it's a very different experience eating outside in an alleyway. The iced lemon tea wasn't sweetened, so it tasted quite bland, but it was okay since I also had a condensed milk toast to balance it out. You have to wait in line to get a seat, and the line starts in an unmarked area across the street from the entrance. Cash only!

Always passed by and tried for the first time seeing that the queue was short (usually it is snaking!) at around Sunday 12pm. The iced milk tea flavour is really really good. Pork chop noodles is their signature it seems. Very tender meat. Their butter toast was fluffy and warm when served. I really enjoyed this place and highly recommend it. Service is quite friendly. They give you postcards as a souvenir before you leave.

Really good breakfast spot. It’s super popular and not worth queuing for ages but if you can go midweek and grab a quick table then it’s more than worth the visit. The black pepper flavour on the pork chop is superb. The noodles are great but definitely add salted beef to whatever else you choose. The sandwich isn’t all that, just go for a plate of the pork chop instead.

I came to Tai Hang for Japanese noodles (chef recommended) but they were closed. Saw this place and jumped in before the lunch rush. Although Google maps said they were temporary closed, I was told they just reopened today. Pork chop noodles were good. Quite tasty and hit the spot. Good HK comfort food. Staff were super super friendly and English speaking guy actually sat down next to me to take my order and make recommendations.

The place is an alley way restaurant that serves HK style noodles, toast and, milk tea. It is located in Tai Hang near Tin Hau area. In the morning esp weekends there will be lineup but usually moves fast, and is walk in only. Tried a few times, their noodle is good but not great enough to just pay a visit if you are in HK. Recommend pork chop instant noodle with egg, toast with peanut butter and condensed milk and iced milk tea. Cash only but accept PayMe - but forget it if you don’t know what it is. I heard might run into Eason Chan if you are a fan…

Old style HK tea store. Lovely atmosphere :) Yummy food and wonderful milk tea.
